Discussion Questions & Answers

Following are our answers based on the questions provided:

Q.1. In the story, La is friends with a creature that only she can see. Did you ever have an imaginary friend when you were younger? If so, describe them and how you interacted with them — even if you didn’t fully imagine them like La did with Blue.
Ans: Yes, I did have an imaginary friend when I was younger. Imaginary friends are a normal and healthy part of childhood play, and they can help children cope with emotions, explore ideals, and have fun123
My imaginary friend was a robot named Zeebo. He was silver and blue, and he had a friendly face with glowing eyes. He could fly, talk, and do amazing things with his robotic arms and legs. He was very smart and curious, and he always wanted to learn new things.
We interacted by going on adventures together. Sometimes we would explore outer space, sometimes we would visit ancient civilizations, and sometimes we would just play games in my backyard. He was always there for me when I needed a friend, and he always made me laugh with his jokes and stories.
Zeebo was more than just an imaginary friend. He was a reflection of my personality, my interests, and my aspirations. He helped me to express myself, to be creative, and to have fun. He was a part of me, and I will always remember him fondly.

Q.2. In the story, La uses writing to help her understand her feelings about her mother. Describe a time when you used a form of creative expression to process something in your life. How did it help you?
Ans: Creative expression can be a powerful way to cope with various challenges and emotions in life. It can help us gain insight, reduce stress, and improve our mental and physical health.
One time when I used a form of creative expression to process something in my life was when I wrote a poem about my feelings of loneliness during the pandemic. I was feeling isolated and disconnected from the world, and I wanted to express myself in a way that was meaningful and cathartic.

Q.3. La is lonely at home and at school when her mother leaves. How is La able to overcome this sense of loneliness and connect with others? Describe a time when you felt lonely or sad. How did you overcome these negative feelings?
Ans: Answers may vary. I think La is able to overcome her loneliness and connect by others by people asking her out if they want to be friends and she answered yes.
I overcame the negative feelings by being kind to others in school so people could invite me into their group. I did it for about 6 years and then they invited me to their group. I was not lonely anymore as I had about 10 friends.
I figured it out by using my memory of being lonely and overcoming my loneliness.

Q.4. La’s mother suddenly leaves her family. How does this affect La’s family? Think about a time when your family experienced a significant change. How did this make you feel?
Ans: It would affect La’s family badly. it would make them sad, or heartbroken. Nobody wants to experience losing a family member. A way my family felt a significant shift was when one of our uncles died. a family member dying or leaving the family is heartbreaking and could change the family forever. Losing a family member makes me sad, or depressed.
